Factor Lynches the Pick'em Crowd

by JJS

Last updated September 16th 2004 10:34 am PDT

First she put everyone on notice that she planned to have a good season, then she backed it up with an opening weekend win as LynchFactor47 eked out a 107-106 victory over Seahawk.  Since LF is from Florida is was necessary for SarasotaFrank recount the hanging chads (Pennington?) several times but each time LF managed to prevail. Her people had been threatening a lawsuit if the results were changed.

The battle for the first week leadership was hotly contested, Trunda4 finished only 4 points off the pace at 104 followed closely by DMXATF23 at 101.

Despite rumors to the contrary JJS did not finish last in week one after breaking to an opening night lead thanks largely the the lackluster efforts of Tak and BucForce.

The leader board will be posted in its entirety beginning next week.

The Buzz

We don't think the Pats will repeat as Champions but for now they're as good as it gets in the AFC.

2

2
1-0
The Hawks were our pre-season pick to win it all; we saw nothing against New Orleans to dissuade us.

3

Eagle fans are all excited about the debut of Terrell Owens. Remind us again of how many Super Bowl Rings T.O. has won.

4

They might have become Ahman Green's team but its the re-tooled defense that makes the Packers look like a solid contender again.

5

6
1-0
We're not sure but Mike Shannahan could probably turn his grandmother into a 100 yard rusher.

6

7
1-0
They might be the trendy pick by analysts but defense and coaching is likely to remain the Vikings Achilles heal.

7

3
0-1
They pushed around the Pats defense all game long but did the unforgivable by coughing it up three times in the red zone.

8

8
1-0
The Rams were lucky to escape with a win against Arizona, the Falcons will present more of a challenge.

9

Jeff Fisher is a great coach but this is the year age and injuries finally catches up with the Titans.

Was it just me, or did the Panthers have that "deer in the headlights look" for the entire game against Green Bay?

11

Deja vu all over again. Lots of offense coupled with no defense.

12

20

If Curtis Martin can sustain the form he showed against Cincy the Jets could be special.

13

25
1-0
The Redskins will be successful under Joe Gibb but we think the most significant coaching change in Washington was the addition of Gregg Williams.

14

13

Big "D" in Dallas now stands for deflated; as in the Cowboys fans fears that last year's success was a mirage.

15

15
1-0
Michael Vick didn't look like anything special against the 9ers; but it might not take anything special to contend in the NFC South.

16

27
1-0
The Browns look as scrappy this season as one of Geoff Garcia's girlfriends.

17

What is it about offensive geniuses that ultimately causes them to go mad? Please explain why Jamal Lewis only got 14 touches against a team he owned last year?

18

14
0-1
An inexperienced quarterback and no running game will make it hard for Cincy to repeat last year's run

19

19
1-0
Last minute miracle wins on opening day have been known to propel more than one team to a successful season.

20

22

The Steelers are still riding the Bus but Pittsburgh seems to have too many holes to be taken seriously this year.

21

16

If the Saints don't show more life soon it could be the death of Jim Haslett in New Orleans.

22

18

Do the quarterback hussle..err shuffle. It won't matter, the Phins are stuck in reverse.

23

29
1-0
The Lions have a chance to be better than last year---but not by much.

24

17
0-1
What the Bucs lack in talent they make up for in age. This could be a real ugly season in Tampa.

25

20

Wasn't much of a "Lovie"-in for Smith's first game. How do you lose your home opener to a team who hasn't won on the road since Geroge Halas was the Bears coach?

26

21
0-1
A Rumor that the Buffalo coach is already under scrutiny is just a bunch of Malarky.

27

24
0-1
Tim Rattay spends more time iin a Rattan then he does behind center. 9ers QB is out with another injury.

28

23
0-1
Ugh. It certainly was no master-Caper. The Texans lose a home opener for the first time in their history.

29

32
1-0
Break out the champagne. It may be the last time the Chargers win this year.

30

31

The Cards looked scrappy against the Rams but with Boldin on the sidelines Josh McKown is going to struggle.

31

The only thing Sapp-daddy's presence on Oakland's defense did for the Raiders on Sunday was to increase the hot air factor.

32

Fining players because they don't come early enough to a team meeting??? Tom Coughlin sure knows how to inspire a team.
